When my husband was deciding whether or not to attend a professional conference in Laguna Beach in December, I quickly made up his mind for him…cheap air fare and the fact that the conference started on a Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton made it a no-brainer for me. Oh, and I insisted that he let me tag along, you know, for moral support. Any way, we made an extended weekend out of it and this time away from the fridgid December weather in Colorado, and peaceful views out the french doors of the hotel room have given me the perfect opportunity to finally catch up on my photography blog.

I have had the opportunity to photograph so many wonderful children, families, couples, and events this year! This long weekend allowed me to catch you up on half of the year. I need another long weekend to finish up the year…maybe over Christmas.

A beautiful, partly sunny morning at Washington Park ended up being the perfect back drop for Diana & Robert’s bridal portraits. Diana’s dress was absolutely gorgeous with its flowing layers of silk organza and elaborately beaded bodice. The lighting that morning created an almost ethereal ambiance.

Sara Beth and I have known each other since the 5th grade! She and I have both recently decided to give our love of photography a front seat in our lives, so I was honored when she asked me to take her family’s picture earlier this year. She has three adorable children – twin boys and a sweet little girl. This shoot focuses on the family, browse the next post for pictures highlighting little Lily.

While traditionally reserved for weddings and special occassions, I convinced my dear friend Pinder to get an elaborate henna tattoo (or Mehndi) on her pregnant belly before her baby shower. The tree seemed to be the perfect symbol to represent the growing life within her.

Ann and I have been friends since we were four years old. Her daughter, Libby, is the spitting image of Ann around that age, except not quite the tom-boy that she was. Her son, Eli, is a miniature version of his dad, and I’m guessing a similar personality at that age, but I can’t say that with authority. I always have a moment of nostalgia when photographing friends’ children…remembering all of the fun adventures we shared together, and thinking, “are we really old enough to have kids of our own?!”

It has been really special to document this family as they have joined together in marriage, prepared for the birth of a new baby, and now they have welcomed baby Conner into their lives. What a sweet little guy! Congratulations Emily & Kerry!
